When it comes to icons in the ski industry there aren’t many people who have had an impact on my life like Warren Miller did.

Since a kid I was lucky enough to see the Warren Miller movie premier every winter at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. The posters, the stickers and the overall hype made for the official start of ski season! Top that off with heading right to the rental shop to get rentals for the year it made for some of my finest childhood memories.

Warren Miller embodied the spirit, passion, and adventure of skiing like no other. As I mentioned his contributions have left an mark on my life as well as the world of skiing, shaping it into what it is today.

Miller was more than just a filmmaker; he was a storyteller, he was able to bring the thrill of the sport to life on the big screen, showcasing the beauty of snow-covered landscapes and the adrenaline-fueled excitement of skiing down steep slopes. His films didn’t just entertain; they inspired countless individuals to grab their skis and seek out their own adventures in the mountains. They sure did for me!

His films weren’t just about the action on the slopes; they were about the people, the places, and the shared love for the sport. Whether it was showcasing the rugged terrain of Alaska, the pristine powder of the Rockies, or the vibrant ski culture in Europe, Miller’s films celebrated the diversity and richness of the skiing world. His films were made for and about the soul of skiing.

His films CONTINUE to captivate audiences, and his spirit lives on in every turn, jump, and powder run. He may no longer be with us, but his impact on the ski industry will last forever.

Warren Miller wasn’t just a legend in the ski industry; he was the heart and soul of skiing itself. His passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to the sport has left an imprint on the skiing world, reminding us all to embrace the adventure and excitement that comes with every descent down the mountain!
